MSD again certified as Top Employer

Lucerne, 13th February 2018 - For the sixth time in a row MSD, a leading research-based biopharmaceutical company, headquartered in Lucerne, was named "Top Employer Switzerland" and for the third time also "Top Employer Europe".

The annual, international research, undertaken by the Top Employers Institute, recognizes leading employers around the world: those that provide excellent employee conditions nurture and develop talent throughout all levels of the organization, and which strive to continuously optimize employment practices.

The Top Employers Institute today announced the results of this year's audit of organizations in Switzerland: MSD is one of the companies that has been awarded the "Top Employer Switzerland 2018" and additionally the "Top Employer Europe 2018" certification.

Crucial to the Top Employers Certification is the completion of a stringent research process, and meeting the required standard in order to achieve the Certification. The Top Employers Institute assessed MSD’s employee offerings on the following criteria:

  • Talent Strategy
  • Workforce Planning
  • On-boarding
  • Learning & Development
  • Performance Management
  • Leadership Development
  • Career & Succession Management
  • Compensation & Benefits
  • Culture

To further reinforce the validity of the process, all answers were independently audited. MSD meets the required standards in all categories. As the company has also been certified as a Top Employer in Germany, Austria, France, Belgium, Italy, Spain and the UK in addition to Switzerland, MSD is considered as "Top Employer Europe" and is therefore one of the "preferred employers".

David Plink, CEO for the Top Employers Institute: “Optimal employee conditions ensure that people can develop themselves personally and professionally. Our comprehensive research concluded that MSD provides an outstanding employment environment and offers a wide range of creative initiatives, from secondary benefits and working conditions, to performance-management programs that are well thought out and truly aligned with the culture of their company.”

Kathrin Gilly, HR Director MSD Switzerland & Austria: "I am thrilled that MSD has been recognized as a top employer again, not only in Switzerland but also in Europe. The dedication of our employees toward the goal of making people healthier, to live better lives, is incredible. This dedication drives us to continuously evaluate our practices, policies and career development opportunities, to ensure that we hold true to the standards of being an employer of choice.
